Having trouble with the upper rack wheels
in your tall tub Maytag, Amana, Whirlpool or Kenmore dishwasher?
Take a close look at your rack wheels. It’s not just that one that’s come off -- they’re all broken! The top rack wheels have a design defect that causes them to fail quite quickly. One of the primary issues is that the hubs are installed with a sheet metal screw and this cracks them. To make matters worse the factory wheel hub isn't available as a replacement unit part.
Is there a solution?
We have a Maytag Quiet Series 300, MDB7600, and had the same issue you have. An engineer by trade, I found myself making my own hubs. Now, the last wheel replacement you’ll ever need is right here too. This is an indestructible kit of custom hubs, machine screws and lock-washers. The kit is made entirely from commercial food service high grade 300 series stainless steel.
They will never crack or rust. They operate smoothly, and the temperature extremes of the washer will never have an adverse effect upon them.
Curious about the fit? The top rack hubs are about 3/8" diameter, by 9/16" long. Refer to the pictures, they fit many dishwashers.
Wheels sometimes break too. You’ll be happy to know that we make these as well. They are carefully CNC machined from solid stainless steel rod. Their quality is unsurpassed. It’s industrial grade hardware for the kitchen!

Your other options for dishwasher rack wheels?
A new upper rack assembly is about $100. Another option is the rack adjuster assembly, but these are $70 (you will need both sides). Both of these options are quite wasteful since you’ll be filling your trash with a good deal of unnecessary metal and plastic. They also wont last forever like our replacement parts.
